Electrical Burns:

Electrical burns may occur when a person comes in contact with a faulty electrical instrument.
In electrical burns, the extent of tissue damage depends on strength of current, length of contact and type of current.

In case of Alternate current [A.C] the patient is thrown from the circuit and the tissue damage is less but more physical injuries.

In case of Direct current [D.C] the victim is stuck to the circuit until the circuit is broken.
The injury is more in case of D.C current.

Call 911.Meanwhile assess whether the victim is conscious or not.

First Aid Treatment:
Disconnect the circuit by putting off the switch.
Do not touch the victim until the circuit is disconnected.
If not possible, separate the victim from the current site by the use of wooden stick or rope.
If the pulse is low or absent give cardiac pulmonary resuscitation.
Give fluid to the victim to minimize the effect of fluid loss from the burnt tissues and to prevent the shock.
Cover the burned part with sterile clothes.
